We believe that women must take on leadership roles in politics, organizations and business. We wrote that in November 2024, after a leadership training for women across various organizational levels, and it describes a thread that runs through our work.
Naming the obstacles
That 2024 training did three things: it identified the challenges women leaders face, the opportunities open to them, and the pathways for progress. Naming obstacles out loud, in a room of women who share them, is often the first time they stop feeling like private failures.
In politics
In 2022 the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association, with USAID and the National Democratic Institute, held a two-day capacity-building training in Hawassa for civil society and women’s groups and for elected women parliamentarians. Women who hold public office carry particular pressures, and equipping them strengthens the institutions they sit in.
In business
In December 2025 we delivered a leadership training on emotional intelligence for the women staff of Global Bank, organized by SewAsset Training and Consult. Its focus was personal mastery and institutional growth: helping talented professionals bring their full ability to a demanding industry.
Why it matters
When women lead, institutions draw on all of their talent instead of half of it. Our commitment to empowering women continues, as we work towards a better future for all.
