For many young Ethiopians the hardest step is the first one after school: getting a job, keeping it, or creating one. Some of our most practical programs are built for that step.

Communication and teamwork

In October 2025, organized by FAWE in collaboration with Mastercard, we delivered a session on communication and team building for a group of young professionals. It was highly interactive, built on experience sharing and discussion: practical strategies for working well with others and putting ideas across clearly, skills that build professional networks and speed up a career.

Ready for work

The same month we completed a Job Readiness and Employability Skills Training, organized by FAWE, for FAWE alumni from different regions. The aim was to send young professionals back out better prepared for their personal and professional journeys, and more confident in a competitive world.

We also took part in FAWE Ethiopia’s Extended Orientation Program for trainers of trainers, under the FAWE/Mastercard Foundation Phase II program, which brought together FAWE staff and board members, partner TVET institutions and national and regional Labor and Skills Offices.

Creating your own work

Not every young person will be hired; some will hire others. In 2023 we delivered entrepreneurship training for two youth groups, four days each, organized by Coca-Cola and AbriMind. Coca-Cola Beverages Africa described its commitment to developing young people’s skills for employment and entrepreneurship, and we agree with its conclusion: well-equipped youth make up a community, and a nation.
